On navigating the murkiness

LETTERS -️ April 24, 2025

Dear Reader,

It's been a while since I've last written to you. I've been lost at sea, and now I've returned. I wanted to share the results of my voyage with you.

When you get hit with a tailwind that sends you off course it's difficult to get back on track. I was hit by one that sent me on a path of numbness.

The animal inside me couldn't take the hit after hit.

So many quench there thirst for adventure and I was one of them.

It reminds me of when they made beer cheaper then water in the Czech Republic.

Everyone will be happy and numb.

There are so many external forces that aim to manipulate you.

Will you be manipulated? Or will you carve your own path.

Should you be manipulated? Maybe if you are aware of it. I think the aim should be a balance of going through life frictionless. Like a paper in the wind. The only difference being is you have ultimate say of where the wind blows. Your actions control the wind but cars can come and change the direction. You want to be able to easily take the impact of external forces and still go the direction you want.

How do you decide which direction you want to go?

I have this little birdy singing in my chest and I listen to it. Can I trust this birdy? Is it the animal inside me telling me what to do, or is it an authentic answer to what direction to go? I feel more comfortable when I combine rational thought with this birdy.

Rational thought is thinking about things like opportunity cost, what will lead to more future opportunities, immediate and future gains.

I believe the birdy is a messanger for your emotions. So when you have a combination of the two aligned then it is a good candidate for direction.

I was drowning out my self with TV.

I don't want that for you.

We are so close.

To living a life that would make ourselves proud.

I read in a Tony Robbins book that when he asked his mother for some alcohol, his mom gave him some. She gave him a copious amount of alcohol for a boy his age. The next day he was severely hungover and had to deal with the aftermath.

This turned him off from the pleasures of alcohol and helped contain it the rest of his life.

We ingest our vices slowly and this is a worse fate.

If a frog is put into boiling water it will jump out, but if the heat of the water slowly rises it will be boiled alive.

Sometimes we need to make the mistakes for ourselves to learn what we needed to know.

Wisdom coming from another who has not obtained it themselves often sounds like foolishness.

I want you to live your life and go on adventures.

To get your own wisdom.

We are so close.

This has been a letter from a coder.

Best Regards, Tyler Farkas
